I am also looking to add reactions to the forum. There was an extension some time ago; I'll have to see if it's still maintained.

Is there a way to help us learn the proper bbcode for things like mentions that are not easily figured out through the GUI of the post editor?

You can type @ and then a username, but for some reason, it only works in the full reply. I think it is also supposed to work in the quick reply, so I will look into it.

Uh, apparently it also only works if you start in the full reply then. I tried doing a preview before I posted and it still didn't act like I used full reply when I posted from the editor after previewing. :'D Thanks much!

I believe there was an extension to make the quick reply more advanced as well, but it's never installed properly for me. It always breaks the board.
