Who all remembers when any time you used to post a new thread or a reply a redirect screen would popup first?

Yeah, that's definitely a feature that didn't need to exist!

Yeah, I don't fully understand what the purpose was. I think you could turn it off on most software. I can't help but wonder if it was supposed to give the end user the illusion of things loading faster back in the slower dialup days?

I think that early forum software developers thought that some people would want to return to the parent forum to post in other topics rather than previewing the post, thus why the redirect page had two options. You can do that pretty much just as easily after previewing the post, though.

I remember those days... then I also remembered that Forumotion still has this feature.

Yeah, Forumotion still does for sure. I think proboards might too.

I am not surprised haha though I don't think I've come across either of those where the board admins have it turned on.

I think phpBB still had them by default until fairly recently.

That's crazy, I don't think boards like Xenforo, IPB or even the disowned vBulletin have had it for ages.

I can't speak for MyBB, I ran with that software primarily for a while, I can't recall a redirect screen.
