Many platforms have the option for players to leave a review for a game they've purchased. This makes it easier for somebody who wants to buy the game but is not sure whether they will like it or not.
I usually spend some time reading the reviews. They can be really helpful in finding out what's going on with the game. Sometimes there might be a negative update, and I would like to know about that before making a decision.

Not usually. I just try it myself or if I happen to hear good things about it.

It depends on where the reviews stand. If they're mixed or really anything other than Mostly Positive for both all time and recent I will scan through to see what the negative reviews are saying.
