I have just been made aware that the spoiler function does not allow me to include titles in the spoiler, though it does not complain when I try. That's confusing. :'D

Interesting. I may see if adding a different BBCode for spoilers is an option. I'm hoping it wouldn't conflict with the extension.

Is there a quick reply extension that allows for use of things such as @mentions and some basic formatting? If not I can be a big boy and just go into the full editor...I just like to make fewer clicks when possible

Yes, I was thinking about that as well. There was once an extension that basically turned the default quick reply into a copy of the full reply. I wonder if that would make the mentions work.
